A Coruña, 28 March 2025 - The Sociological Research Centre (CIS) has published the results of its survey on artificial intelligence, its use and the population's knowledge of this technology. A high percentage of those surveyed, 93.4%, ‘very or fairly agree’ that the programming and training of artificial intelligence should be regulated; 92.7% believe that companies and organisations should inform when using AI and 85.5% say it is ‘very or fairly likely’ that they could be victims of fraud. You can consult all the information on the selection process in this section.
In this context, the functions of the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA) related to the human supervision of AI systems and the advice to companies and professionals for their correct implementation and management, take on a major role in order to protect the consumer and the EU internal market.
The aforementioned survey also reveals the need to create knowledge, and to offer training and dissemination in relation to ethical and sustainable artificial intelligence; another of AESIA's fundamental functions; as these new technological advances generate a high level of uncertainty (in 67.2% of cases) and concern (for 58.4%) among Spaniards. Furthermore, only 43.5% of respondents have heard about the approval of the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Law.
While the majority of respondents believe that AI can be detrimental to the labour market (56.2%) or to artistic creation (49.2%), they also believe that it can bring significant benefits to the field of health (66%) or industry (62.3%). In these fields, and in any other of the Spanish business and research fabric, AESIA will support and contribute to the promotion of innovation and the development of ethical and reliable AI systems.
