This Christmas, in good company: Toys and AI

A Coruña, December 18, 2025 –. More and more toys incorporate artificial intelligence to adapt, dialogue or customize the game experience. This situation can stimulate the creativity, learning and curiosity of boys and girls; however, when a toy listens, learns or connects to the internet it is also important to ask what data it collects, who manages them or if it is really designed with the welfare of the little ones in mind.

To answer these questions and help citizens make informed and responsible decisions, the Spanish Agency for Artificial Intelligence Supervision (AESIA) continues its Christmas campaign, focused on toys and AI.

Tips for choosing toys that integrate artificial intelligence:

  • Look for a toy that evolves with your child: some toys learn routines, tastes or levels and offer increasingly adapted activities.
  • Nurturing creativity and critical thinking: Many AI toys offer challenges, stories, or personalized games.
  • Value toys that offer educational support: they reinforce reading, languages, logic or music without losing the playful component.
  • Prioritize digital security: Some models include parental control, offline use, or interaction limits.
  • It has time to configure it and accompany its use: the best results appear when an adult participates, guides and supervises.

Don’t buy it if…

  • Doesn’t explain how your AI works
  • Collect data without transparency
  • It depends on internet connection
  • Promises “friendship” or emotional bond
  • It behaves in an unpredictable way
  • Does not have technical support
